Aleli’s homepage: four photographs across a dark canvas with the introduction “I’m Aleli,” below.
The opening photo mosaic introduces Aleli through her work.

01 / The brief

One photographer.
Two different audiences.

Aleli creates headshots in New York City and seasonal senior portraits in Sonoma County. The website needed to bring both sides of her practice together, while giving each a distinct place to live.

The approach pairs generous photography with lightweight typography and a simple route from discovering the work to getting in touch.

02 / The experience

Different settings.
The same visual language.

Shared typography, spacing, and navigation tie the location pages together. Dark and light surfaces give each collection its own atmosphere; yellow and green accents carry those identities through navigation and inquiries.

New York City headshots page, with a black-and-white portrait beside the heading “Headshots built for stage and screen.”

New York City

A dark, pared-back setting for character-driven headshots. Large portraits and short editorial passages introduce the work to actors and performers.

Sonoma County portraits page, with a sunset beach portrait on a light background.

Sonoma County

A lighter setting for seasonal senior portraits. Outdoor photography sits alongside a clear explanation of editing, downloads, and print rights.

03 / Motion & navigation

Movement that follows the work.

The opening photographs settle into a mosaic. Editorial copy reveals as you scroll, and colored wipes connect the pages. A full-screen menu pairs each destination with a photograph that changes on hover or keyboard focus.

Entrances have matching exits, keeping the experience coherent when you go back. Reduced-motion preferences skip the spatial effects.

The full-screen menu pairs large navigation links with a photograph of Aleli holding a camera.
A photographic menu, with a shared rhythm for opening, closing, and changing pages.

04 / Client inquiries

From “Let’s talk”
to an organized inquiry.

A four-step intake asks where the shoot will happen, what the client needs, when they need it, and how to reach them. Service choices adapt to the selected location.

Validated requests are saved to Google Sheets, with spam protection through Cloudflare Turnstile. The confirmation appears after the inquiry is saved, then answers common questions for that location.

  4. 04Contact details
The first inquiry screen asks “I’m in…” with choices for New York City, Sonoma County, and Somewhere Else, plus a four-part progress indicator.
One decision at a time, with location-specific choices and a visible path forward.

05 / The build

Static pages.
A custom inquiry backend.

Astro renders the pages and optimizes the photography. Motion handles the animation, Lenis smooths scrolling, and Astro’s client router connects the page transitions. A Vercel Function handles inquiry validation and delivery.
